Common questions
- Where is my library kept?
- On your phone, in Seaglass’s private storage. Seaglass has no account and no sync.
- How do I move my library to a new phone?
-
- A backup file: export one in Settings › Backups, then restore it in Seaglass on the new phone.
- Android’s transfer: use Android’s phone-to-phone transfer when you set up the new phone.
- Are backups encrypted?
- No. A backup is a file you choose where to save, so keep it somewhere you trust.
- How do I delete my data?
-
- One piece at a time: delete it in the library, and it is gone for good about an hour later.
- Everything: uninstall Seaglass, or clear its storage in Android’s Settings.
- Backup files you made are yours to delete.
- Why does the edge sidebar need to display over other apps?
- Android calls this permission “Display over other apps”; Samsung phones call it “Appear on top”. The sidebar needs it to draw its drop zone over other apps when you drag something toward the edge of the screen. The sidebar is off until you turn it on.
- Why does Seaglass ask for usage access?
- It is optional. With it, a piece dropped on the edge sidebar knows which app it came from. Seaglass keeps only that app’s name, on your phone.
- Does Seaglass work offline?
- Yes. Only link previews need a connection, plus the downloads you start: Gemini Nano and the text-in-pictures reader.
