Tile
One swipe from your watch face, with room for more: where the meeting is, today's high and low, and a button for the glance's own action, like play and pause.
Brief for Wear OS
Brief is a complication that shows the one thing worth knowing right now: your next meeting, the song that's playing, a message you're waiting on, the weather. When nothing needs you, it shows the date.
Free. Needs an Android phone and a Wear OS 4+ watch, like a Pixel Watch or a Galaxy Watch4 or newer.
Now playing · Tap the watch to play or pause.
How it picks
Brief runs down your list and shows the first source with something to say. Drag them into any order in the app. Scroll to see each one on the watch.
Track and artist, with a ring that follows the song. Play and pause from your wrist.
On this page: storm by Night Tapes, a 30-second preview from Apple Music.
Alerts from the apps you pick, and only those. Tap one to open it.
Your next event, with a countdown that updates by itself.
Your watch tells you when your phone drops below the level you set.
Current conditions, plus a heads-up before it rains.
Your own nudges, like “Meds” or “Stand up”, on your schedule. Mark them done from the watch.
Always last. The date, your own text, your phone's battery level, or nothing at all.
Tile, widgets and more
The complication, the tile, the Wear OS 7 widget and the widget on your phone all show the same glance, and they change together.
One swipe from your watch face, with room for more: where the meeting is, today's high and low, and a button for the glance's own action, like play and pause.
On Wear OS 7 the tile becomes a widget: a card in your watch's widget list, small or large, in the colour of what it's showing.
The same glance on your home screen, from a slim row to a two-row card. Its buttons work here too.
It only messages your watch when the glance changes.
Countdowns and the date tick on the watch itself, between updates.
Your phone reads your calendar, music and notifications, picks what to show, and sends only that to your watch. Drag sources into order and switch off what you don't need.
No account, no Brief server, no ads, no analytics. Your calendar, music and notifications only ever go from your phone to your own watch.
Play or pause, open a notification, or tick off a reminder.
Other apps can put their own text on your watch.
There's a tip jar if you like it. It unlocks nothing.
Give a source its own hours, or go quiet during Do Not Disturb.
A watch with Wear OS 4 or newer, like any Pixel Watch or a Galaxy Watch4 or newer, and an Android phone with Android 11 or newer. Not sure about your watch? Its settings show the Wear OS version, under About. Brief doesn't work with iPhone, and the watch app needs the phone app to run.
Any watch face with a complication slot. Brief fits the small circles and rings, but it looks best in a wide slot, where there's room for two lines.
Yes. There's a tip jar in the app if you'd like to say thanks. It doesn't unlock anything.
Yes. Turn on Automation in the app's advanced settings, and Tasker (or anything else that can send an intent) can show its own text on your watch.
Send feedback from the app's settings, or email developerdfa@gmail.com. If you allow it, the app can attach logs from both your phone and your watch. I read every message.
Install Brief on your phone first. It walks you through getting the watch app too.
